Featured Study: Equine-assisted Therapy Effectiveness

Study Title: Equine-assisted therapy effectiveness in improving emotion regulation, self-efficacy, and perceived self-esteem of patients suffering from substance abuse disorders

Journal: BMC Complimentary Medicine and Therapies, 2023

Summary: The use of equine-assisted therapy, in addition to regular therapy, provided an additive statistically proven improvement in emotion regulation (higher reappraisal and lower suppression scores), self-esteem, and self-efficacy as shown using multivariate analyses (questionnaire, GSE scale, and self-esteem test). The analyses showed significant shifts in the above-mentioned areas over the control group that did not receive EAT within individuals suffering from SUD.
